Located at the center of Angkor Thom,
the Bayon has been a marvel to all those who have felt the gaze of
its gigantic faces. The four faces on each tower represent the
omnipresence of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Lokeshvara) as well as King
Jayavarman VII himself.

scale and composition of the Bayon exude grandness in every aspect.
Its elements juxtapose each other to create balance and harmony.
Over 200 large faces carved on the 54 towers give this temple its
majestic character. The faces with slightly curving lips, eyes
placed in shadow by the lowered lids utter not a word and yet force
